Field Director, Dermatology

📋 Description

• Oversee a regional team of Dermatology Medical Science Liaisons.

• Deliver scientific, clinical, research, and educational assistance to healthcare professionals and internal stakeholders.

• Collaborate with the MSL Head to establish and implement regional strategies for organized providers.

• Convert Medical Affairs strategies into regional goals, measurable outcomes, and action plans.

• Conduct regular strategy assessments with MSL direct reports utilizing data, insights, AI tools, and performance metrics.

• Mentor and enhance the development of direct reports through feedback, field observations, skills frameworks, and career development.

• Implement field Medical Affairs initiatives, such as product launches, proactive programs, and HCP engagement activities.

• Ensure that direct reports exhibit scientific proficiency, presentation abilities, stakeholder influence, adaptive communication, and scientific storytelling.

• Eliminate obstacles and synchronize field activities for effective scientific engagement.

• Guarantee the collection and evaluation of actionable Medical Insights and communicate findings to guide strategy, evidence generation, and lifecycle management.

• Lead transformations through professionalism, accountability, resilience, integrity, and engagement.

• Coordinate with Medical Affairs, Scientific Affairs, and cross-functional teams.

• Propose solutions to the MSL Head by employing critical thinking, risk assessment, and sound judgment.

• Ensure compliance with regulatory and healthcare standards while promoting ethical decision-making.

• Manage functions of the regional MSL team including performance, training, capacity, field metrics, territory plans, projects, and administrative reporting.

• Recruit, retain, and cultivate a diverse, high-performing team.

• Provide career and succession planning for team members.

• Share team accomplishments, insights, and impacts with internal partners and leadership.

• Engage in business planning and either lead or support cross-functional and company-wide initiatives.

• Develop field scientific strategies that align with medical priorities and lifecycle requirements.

• Direct assigned scientific projects and programs from strategic planning to tactical execution.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of a master’s degree is essential.

• PharmD, PhD, or MD is highly preferred.

• At least 8 years of relevant experience is required.

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry is necessary.

• At least 2 years of experience as an MSL or in a similar role is required.

• Clinical/research experience is preferred.

• Experience in a relevant therapeutic area is preferred.

• Previous responsibility for people management is preferred.

• Proficiency in data collection and analysis, clinical expertise, problem-solving, interpersonal influence, cross-functional collaboration, strategic thinking, and competitive landscape analysis is required.

• Must reside in the assigned region and be near an airport.

• Willingness to travel regionally approximately 60%, including overnight trips, national scientific congresses, and essential strategic/scientific meetings.

• A valid US driver’s license is required.

• A demonstrated commitment to learning about emerging technologies such as AI is essential.

• Experience in fostering team AI literacy and confidence, ensuring responsible use of AI, and exercising sound judgment is necessary.
