Field Application Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Act as a vital link among the sales team, Marketing, and end-users.

• Deliver expert-level assistance for SPT Labtech’s range of liquid handling products.

• Organize and conduct product demonstrations for all SPT Labtech liquid handlers.

• Maintain a thorough operational understanding of liquid handling products.

• Retain subject matter expertise in pertinent application areas.

• Assist the Field Application Scientist and Territory Management teams with specialized knowledge.

• Set up and provide application-oriented training for new and current users of SPT Labtech and Apricot liquid handling instruments.

• Offer continuous remote and in-person application support to end-users.

• Develop, adjust, and improve advanced liquid handling and automation protocols to enhance client operations.

• Contribute to conference strategies and participate in conferences.

• Maintain accurate recordkeeping in Salesforce.

• Create and present customer-focused application notes, webinars, conference presentations, and posters.

• Engage in strategic collaborations to provide scientific content for marketing purposes.

• Gather customer feedback for product development and software teams.

• Foster positive customer relationships.

• Mentor and guide Associate Field Application Scientists as necessary.

• Travel across the Southwest USA, with occasional trips to the East USA and UK headquarters.

• Collaborate with colleagues across various time zones and regions.

⛳️ Requirements

• MSc with a minimum of five years of practical experience, or a PhD with at least two years of practical experience, in a Biological Science field, liquid handling, laboratory automation, or a related area in an industry or academic setting.

• Familiarity with NGS methods utilized in research.

• Preferably experienced in liquid handling and automation; backgrounds in HTS, assay development, molecular biology, or structural biology will be considered.

• Experience in workflow optimization within genomics, drug discovery, and structural biology.

• Strong understanding of genomics, drug discovery, and structural biology.

• Practical experience in genomics/molecular biology is desirable.

• Willingness and ability to travel extensively, up to 75%, including internationally.

• Exceptional organizational, analytical, troubleshooting, record-keeping, and communication skills.

• Professional demeanor.

• Previous experience in field applications, teaching, marketing, or customer service is a plus.

• Demonstrated leadership ability with a proven track record of mentorship.

• Capacity to work effectively both independently and within a team framework.
