Field Application Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Promote and position the complete Telit Cinterion product and services portfolio within the designated region.

• Provide technical support during RFI/RFQ and design-win processes.

• Deliver technical presentations, demonstrations, and pre-sales assistance.

• Conduct organized training sessions for customers and distributors.

• Empower customers to develop, integrate, validate, and certify wireless applications across hardware, software, and system design.

• Monitor customer use cases, requirements, milestones, and project progression.

• Serve as the technical liaison between Telit Cinterion, internal teams, customers, MNOs, and distributors.

• Relay customer feedback to R&D and communicate product roadmap requirements to Product Management.

• Manage direct customer and distributor accounts while providing technical support to strategic accounts.

• Evaluate support effectiveness through customer interactions and relationships.

• Create, document, and monitor customer Change Requests.

• Assist Sales teams with competitive positioning and selling strategies.

• Conduct hands-on troubleshooting, including log analysis, tracing, and on-site testing.

• Document issues, propose solutions or workarounds, and escalate defects through internal processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• A technical degree is highly preferred; equivalent practical experience in network operations, carrier, RF, or embedded systems is also acceptable.

• At least 3 years of experience in a relevant technical or customer-facing engineering position.

• Professional proficiency in English at CEFR B2 level or above is essential.

• Proficiency in one or more additional South African languages is a plus.

• Willingness and ability to travel, typically up to 20%, within South Africa and, when necessary, elsewhere in the assigned region.

• Strong understanding of cellular networking concepts, including LPWA, 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G, voice, and data communication.

• Knowledge of RF fundamentals, embedded systems (Linux, C, Java, ThreadX), firmware development tools, microcontrollers, antenna design, power management, test tools, and GNSS is advantageous.

• Experience with a wireless communications module supplier, or familiarity with SaaS/PaaS solutions, is beneficial.

• Understanding of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, SIM/USIM, and eUICC technologies.

• Exceptional communication skills, with the capability to convey complex technical subjects in a clear manner.
