Application Support Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Deploy and manage .NET web applications hosted on Microsoft IIS, Microsoft SQL Server, and Microsoft Azure.

• Address Tier 3 client support tickets and provide status/progress updates on technical issues to both non-technical clients and internal stakeholders.

• Diagnose intricate application, infrastructure, and deployment challenges across development, testing, and production environments.

• Engage in on-call support and operational incident response activities to ensure high system availability and security.

• Design, maintain, and support automation tools, scripts, and processes for software builds, deployments, and code management.

• Leverage Azure DevOps, Git, PowerShell, and infrastructure monitoring platforms to enhance SaaS practices and drive continuous improvement.

• Collaborate with development teams to plan, coordinate, and implement application releases and production deployments.

• Support and manage Windows Server infrastructure and Microsoft Azure cloud services.

• Oversee existing Azure environments and assist with the onboarding and configuration of new customer subscriptions.

• Administer and support IIS and other essential application services.

• Monitor application and infrastructure health and address performance, availability, and reliability concerns.

• Assess production applications and infrastructure to enhance security, scalability, performance, and operational efficiency.

• Work alongside SQL Server DBAs on database-related application performance challenges.

• Collaborate with the DevOps Team to improve automation, monitoring, and operational processes.

• Partner with developers, business stakeholders, and customers to design solutions, troubleshoot technical issues, and support enhancements.

• Stay updated with emerging Microsoft technologies, cloud services, and industry best practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

• Over 5 years of experience on a software development, DevOps, infrastructure, or IT operations team.

• Practical experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services and platform management.

• Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server-based web applications and source control systems such as Git.

• Experience with software development collaboration platforms, preferably Atlassian and Azure DevOps.

• Proficient knowledge of Windows Server operating systems.

• Experience supporting core Microsoft technologies including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and IIS.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.

• Capability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Enthusiasm for learning new technologies and remaining current with industry trends.

• Microsoft or relevant industry certifications.

• Experience in packaging, deploying, and supporting enterprise software applications utilizing the .NET Framework.

• Proficient PowerShell scripting and automation skills.

• Experience in supporting containerized applications.

• Knowledge of maintaining highly available, 24/7/365 production environments.

• Familiarity with Azure App Services and other Azure Container services.

• Experience with infrastructure monitoring and logging tools such as Azure App Insights, Azure Monitor, Site24/7, Grafana, or similar platforms.

• Experience in constructing and managing CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.

• Understanding of cloud security best practices, vulnerability management, and risk assessment methodologies.

• Basic networking knowledge including TCP/IP, routing, firewalls, switches, VPNs, and network troubleshooting.

• Proven ability and willingness to identify opportunities for process improvement and implement scalable automation solutions.
