This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Zealand.
• Deliver high-quality, evidence-based assistance to tāngata whai ora and whānau affected by family and sexual harm.
• Perform assessments, identify risk factors, and assist in the development of suitable safety and support plans.
• Employ advanced communication and counselling abilities in complex scenarios.
• Offer guidance, coaching, and support to fellow advisors.
• Establish and nurture relationships with both internal and external stakeholders as well as support services.
• Identify and address barriers that hinder access to support, wellbeing, and successful outcomes.
• Contribute to ongoing improvement and advocate for best practices.
• Keep precise records and ensure that service delivery aligns with organizational, contractual, and professional standards.
• Operate within a dynamic 24/7 service environment.
• Relevant tertiary qualification (or in progress) in counselling, psychology, social work, psychotherapy, or a related field, or over 2 years of experience assisting individuals affected by family violence or sexual harm.
• Actively pursuing registration with a relevant authority within the Mental Health and Addictions sector.
• Experience in supervision or coaching.
• Ideally, 6 months or more of experience in Telehealth or a comparable role, such as helplines, eTherapy, face-to-face counselling, or therapy.
• Comprehensive understanding of the dynamics of family and sexual harm.
• Excellent communication, active listening, and counselling skills.
• Capability to exercise sound judgement and make informed decisions in complex circumstances.
• Experience handling sensitive and challenging discussions with professionalism and empathy.
• Strong planning and organizational abilities, with the capacity to manage competing priorities.
• Ability to effectively engage with individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
• Commitment to learning, receiving feedback, and striving for continuous improvement.
• Willingness to work a variety of shifts within a 24/7 service; availability for overnight and weekend shifts is highly valued.
