Expert Team Lead, Medicine

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Lead a team of AI Tutors responsible for delivering exceptional training data and evaluations for SpaceXAI’s models.

• Own the complete quality and delivery process for assigned Human Data projects.

• Review domain work personally to ensure accuracy, consistency, adherence to guidelines, and production of high-quality data.

• Guide, coach, and manage the performance of AI Tutors, including conducting reviews, maintaining records, creating action plans, facilitating shadow sessions, and driving continuous improvement.

• Oversee and engage in labeling and reviewing tasks.

• Manage taxonomies and oversee quality assurance processes.

• Identify and troubleshoot operational bottlenecks while implementing process enhancements.

• Monitor performance using KPI dashboards, which include quality metrics, throughput, and send-back rates.

• Collaborate with Human Data Managers, Team Leads, and Engineering to convert model requirements into effective labeling strategies.

• Coach and nurture talent while upholding accountability and fostering a high-performance culture.

• Document outcomes and provide updates on project status, risks, and results.

• Represent tutors and promote collaboration across the Human Data organization.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 8 months of hands-on experience in data labeling, annotation, AI training/evaluation, content quality, or related operational fields.

• Basic understanding of AI and machine learning principles and the significance of high-quality training data on model performance.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a clinical or medicine-related discipline, or 5+ years of equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.

• Previous experience in people leadership is preferred.

• Medical Doctorate, other completed clinical doctoral degrees, residency, or postgraduate clinical experience is preferred or considered advantageous.

• Familiarity with clinical data and workflows, including laboratory results, medical imaging, EHRs, and clinical documentation.

• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.

• Experience in reviewing domain work, ensuring data quality, and enhancing operational processes.

• Experience in performance management, coaching, training program development, and certification frameworks.

• Proficiency in data analysis and related tools; knowledge of SQL is a plus.

• Experience managing various employment types or distributed teams.

• Familiarity with tools such as Notion, Axiom, JIRA, Linear, or similar applications.

• Candidates must reside in one of the countries where SpaceXAI has a physical office; remote work options are also available.
