This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• Design and implement Ocular’s corporate communications strategy, focusing on corporate reputation, executive messaging, media relations, thought leadership, and issue management.
• Act as a reliable communications advisor to the executive leadership team regarding business developments, organizational changes, sensitive issues, and reputation management.
• Enhance and refine the company’s corporate narrative, positioning, messaging, and essential proof points.
• Drive proactive earned, paid, and social media relations while developing strategic engagement opportunities with agency partners, journalists, industry publications, and external audiences.
• Manage crisis communications and issue management, including response strategies, messaging, executive briefings, and communication plans.
• Create executive communications materials, which include speeches, presentations, talking points, town halls, internal announcements, and external thought leadership.
• Direct internal communications strategies that align with business priorities, organizational culture, and changes.
• Collaborate with Marketing, Investor Relations, Government Affairs, Legal, HR, and other departments to ensure cohesive communications.
• Cultivate and nurture relationships with key media, industry influencers, strategic partners, and external stakeholders.
• Develop frameworks for communication measurement and reporting.
• Lead, mentor, and motivate a high-performing communications team while overseeing external agencies and strategic partners.
• Administer communications budgets and resources effectively.
• Remain informed about current trends in media, digital, social, employee engagement, and communications.
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, business, or a related field.
• A minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in corporate communications, public relations, executive communications, or a comparable discipline.
• Significant experience advising C-suite executives and senior leadership teams.
• Proven track record in developing and executing enterprise-level communications strategies within a biotech or pharmaceutical environment.
• Experience in leading and nurturing high-performing teams in complex organizations.
• Exceptional writing, verbal communication, presentation, and storytelling skills.
• Excellent judgment, discretion, and the ability to handle sensitive or confidential matters adeptly.
• Ability to distill complex business, financial, technical, or organizational issues into clear and impactful communications.
• Strong strategic thinking and business acumen, with a knack for linking communications priorities to measurable business results.
• Proven capability to perform effectively under pressure, manage competing priorities, and make sound decisions in fast-paced environments.
• Ability to collaborate with key stakeholders and thrive in a change-oriented atmosphere.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time.
