This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Act as the primary staff advisor to the Board, Executive Committee, and President.
• Execute policies and strategies approved by the Board while ensuring clear governance and management boundaries.
• Participate in monthly virtual Board meetings and attend two in-person Board meetings each year.
• Transform the Strategic Plan into quantifiable goals, monitor outcomes, and lead the organization through changes and initiatives.
• Guide a high-performing, collaborative team with established expectations and accountability.
• Create budgets, oversee financial health, uphold robust controls, and pinpoint opportunities for revenue growth.
• Direct strategies aimed at enhancing member engagement and retention.
• Provide executive leadership and operational management for education, training, certification, conferences, and publications.
• Spearhead government relations strategies and cultivate partnerships with agencies, professionals, partners, and allied organizations.
• Act as spokesperson and safeguard the Association’s reputation and the integrity of its credentials.
• Formulate communication strategies to boost awareness and enhance the organization’s public image.
• Sustain relationships with chapters and international members while providing support to chapters.
• Identify opportunities to bolster IAAI’s global presence.
• Oversee compliance in legal, ethical, cybersecurity, operational aspects, insurance, and crisis preparedness.
• Assess and implement emerging technologies, including the responsible use of artificial intelligence.
• Set performance indicators, assess outcomes, and lead organizational changes to enhance effectiveness, efficiency, sustainability, and member value.
• 7–10 years of progressively responsible leadership experience, ideally within an association, nonprofit, or membership organization.
• Experience collaborating with a volunteer Board and volunteer leaders.
• Understanding of nonprofit governance, particularly the distinction between Board governance and staff management.
• Proficient in budgeting, financial analysis, and resource allocation.
• Proven track record in developing and executing strategic plans and leading staff.
• Exceptional written, verbal, interpersonal, and public speaking abilities.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
• Capability to manage conflicting priorities, navigate complex challenges, and respond effectively to crises.
• Successful experience in building partnerships and seeking grant or other funding opportunities.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and executive experience.
• Preferred: Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential.
• Preferred: Experience guiding an organization through strategic growth or significant transformation.
• Preferred: Background in a technical or professional organization related to education, credentialing, and subject-matter-expert volunteers.
