Estimator/Cost Manager – EV Construction

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.

📋 Description

• Serve as the main commercial point of contact with the client throughout the design and construction phases.

• Deliver cost planning, estimating, forecasting, and cost-plan presentations at significant project milestones.

• Develop and uphold cost control, change management, and commercial governance frameworks.

• Estimate, assess, negotiate, and oversee construction change orders.

• Analyze contractor and subcontractor pricing to ensure accuracy, entitlement, and value for money.

• Oversee contingency management, commitment tracking, cost-to-complete forecasting, and cost variance assessments.

• Conduct post-contract quantity surveying, cost control, valuations, payment certifications, cost evaluations, and commercial audits.

• Review contractor submissions and provide detailed written feedback and executive summaries.

• Manage cost and commercial aspects of contracts.

• Negotiate and finalize accounts.

• Gather built-cost data and maintain benchmarking records.

• Collaborate with owners, project managers, design teams, and contractors to develop costs and advance design.

• Evaluate and communicate cost, risk, and schedule implications to guide engineering and design priorities.

• Coordinate cost information from general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, direct procurement, and A/Es.

• Engage in value engineering and design optioneering processes.

• Prepare funding data, executive cost presentations, reports, monthly cost forecasts, and commercial dashboards.

• Assist in the commercial management of electrical distribution, utility upgrades, MEP-heavy structures, site and civil packages, phased construction, EV charging, and fleet-support infrastructure.

• Handle cost and change ramifications of phased delivery, fast-track construction, and changing operational needs.

• Supervise commission financial performance, margins, and resource forecasting utilizing internal systems.

• Apply Turner & Townsend business management systems and delivery methodologies.

• Mentor and guide junior staff members.

• Fulfill applicable SOX control responsibilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Cost Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a similar construction field.

• Over 5 years of relevant experience in cost management or quantity surveying within the construction sector.

• Proven track record in delivering cost management services for medium to large, complex construction projects.

• Experience in mission-critical, industrial, infrastructure, or campus-scale environments is preferred.

• A background in construction consultancy or client-side cost management is strongly desired.

• In-depth knowledge of construction contracts, procurement methods, valuations, change control, and final account procedures.

• Experience in supporting MEP-intensive projects, infrastructure packages, and utility-driven construction scopes.

• Experience in the EV sector is preferred but not mandatory.

• RICS accreditation or progress toward chartership is preferred.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to confidently engage with senior stakeholders.
