Estimator – Unitized Curtain Wall

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Prepare and refine detailed material takeoffs and quantity surveys with oversight from senior estimating management.

• Examine architectural drawings, specifications, addenda, structural calculations, and engineering documents to ascertain project scope and pricing needs.

• Evaluate project schedules, including visual mock-ups, testing criteria, material procurement timelines, and installation sequences.

• Create thorough estimates for material, labor, equipment, transportation, taxes, and subcontractor costs.

• Generate detailed quantity takeoffs from architectural and structural blueprints.

• Compile material summaries, sketches, and bid documentation essential for the development of estimates.

• Solicit, assess, and scrutinize vendor and subcontractor quotes for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to project specifications.

• Manage bid-related communications, including the distribution of plans, specifications, and addenda to vendors and subcontractors.

• Draft bid proposals, pricing breakdowns, unit costs, clarifications, inclusions, and exclusions.

• Assist in the preparation of final bid packages and submissions to customers.

• Engage in scope review meetings and maintain comprehensive documentation of meetings.

• Follow up with general contractors and clients regarding bid submissions and feedback on proposals.

• Provide support to senior estimating personnel with project pricing, budgeting, and proposal creation.

• Utilize Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, Word, and other estimating software tools to generate precise estimates and reports.

• Adhere to all proposal deadlines while ensuring a high degree of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of two (2) years of estimating, sales, or preconstruction experience, ideally within the construction sector.

• Strong comprehension of architectural and structural drawings along with construction documentation.

• Experience in preparing quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and bid proposals.

• Proficient in AutoCAD.

• Proficient in Revit.

• Proficient in Bluebeam.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and spreadsheet analysis.

• Familiarity with glass door systems.

• Familiarity with point-supported glass wall systems.

• Familiarity with high-span curtain wall systems.

• Familiarity with unitized curtain wall systems.

• Familiarity with storefront framing and entrance systems.

• Field construction experience related to unitized curtain wall or glazing installation.

• Knowledge of Kawneer storefront products and systems.

• Experience with PartnerPak estimating software for Kawneer.

• A college degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business, or a related field is preferred.
