Estimator – Unitized Curtain Wall

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Prepare and update detailed material takeoffs and quantity surveys under the guidance of senior estimating leadership.

• Examine architectural drawings, specifications, addenda, structural calculations, and engineering documents to establish project scope and pricing needs.

• Analyze project schedules, including visual mock-ups, testing requirements, material procurement timelines, and installation sequencing.

• Create thorough estimates for material, labor, equipment, transportation, tax, and subcontractor costs.

• Generate detailed quantity takeoffs from both architectural and structural drawings.

• Compile material summaries, sketches, and bid documentation essential for estimate development.

• Request, assess, and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to project specifications.

• Manage bid-related communications, including the distribution of plans, specifications, and addenda to vendors and subcontractors.

• Draft bid proposals, pricing breakdowns, unit costs, clarifications, inclusions, and exclusions.

• Assist in the preparation of final bid packages and customer submissions.

• Engage in scope review meetings and maintain meticulous meeting documentation.

• Follow up with general contractors and customers regarding bid submissions and feedback on proposals.

• Assist senior estimating staff with project pricing, budgeting, and proposal creation.

• Utilize Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, Word, and other estimating software tools for accurate estimates and reports.

• Adhere to all proposal deadlines while ensuring a high level of precision and attention to detail.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of two (2) years of experience in estimating, sales, or preconstruction, ideally within the construction sector.

• Strong comprehension of architectural and structural drawings as well as construction documentation.

• Experience in preparing quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and bid proposals.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD.

• Proficiency in Revit.

• Proficiency in Bluebeam.

• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and spreadsheet analysis.

• Familiarity with glass door systems.

• Familiarity with point-supported glass wall systems.

• Familiarity with high-span curtain wall systems.

• Familiarity with unitized curtain wall systems.

• Familiarity with storefront framing and entrance systems.

• Field construction experience related to unitized curtain wall or glazing installation.

• Knowledge of Kawneer storefront products and systems.

• Experience with PartnerPak estimating software for Kawneer.

• A college degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business, or a related field is preferred.
