This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Prepare comprehensive and precise estimates for MEICA packages associated with water and wastewater projects.
• Review tender documents, specifications, drawings, schedules, and design information to determine project requirements.
• Develop detailed costs for labor, plant, materials, subcontractors, and equipment.
• Obtain and assess quotations from suppliers and specialized subcontractors.
• Create bills of quantities, schedules of rates, and cost build-ups.
• Identify scope gaps, risks, assumptions, exclusions, and opportunities within tender documentation.
• Collaborate with design teams to grasp technical requirements and pinpoint value engineering opportunities.
• Partner with procurement teams to ensure competitive and commercially sound supply-chain pricing.
• Produce tender submissions and accompanying commercial documentation within established timelines.
• Conduct benchmarking and stay updated on MEICA rates, suppliers, and market conditions.
• Contribute to value engineering and cost optimization throughout the pre-construction phase.
• Assist in the preparation of cost plans and estimates at various stages of project development.
• Present estimates and commercial assumptions to senior management and project stakeholders.
• Maintain precise estimating records and aid in the continuous improvement of estimating processes.
• Support the transition of successful tenders to the commercial and project delivery teams.
• Degree/HND level qualified or equivalent in mechanical or electrical engineering or a related field.
• Relevant professional qualification or membership in a recognized industry organization.
• Experience with major UK water infrastructure programs, such as AMP delivery programs.
• Background as an Estimator, Senior Estimator, or MEICA Estimator in the water, utilities, M&E, infrastructure, or construction sectors.
• Strong understanding of MEICA systems and installation methodologies.
• Experience estimating mechanical and electrical works, preferably within the water industry.
• Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes and related assets.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
• Experience in obtaining and analyzing quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Strong commercial awareness and comprehension of construction costs.
• Excellent numerical and analytical capabilities.
• Good understanding of estimating and cost-management principles.
• Strong attention to detail and capacity to meet tight deadlines.
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to constructively challenge information and identify commercial opportunities and risks.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating software.
• Experience working within AMP8 frameworks or major UK water company programs would be highly beneficial.
