This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Prepare comprehensive and precise estimates for civil engineering projects related to water and wastewater.
• Examine tender documents, drawings, specifications, schedules, and scopes of work.
• Create detailed pricing for earthworks and excavation, reinforced concrete and structures, pipelines and utilities, roads, access and drainage, treatment works and associated infrastructure, temporary works and site establishment, as well as mechanical and electrical interfaces.
• Gather and assess quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Develop bills of quantities, rates, build-ups, and resource requirements.
• Collaborate with designers, engineers, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients to clarify scope and technical specifications.
• Identify project risks, assumptions, exclusions, and opportunities, and incorporate them into estimates.
• Support construction methodologies and programmes to aid accurate pricing.
• Conduct value engineering and pinpoint opportunities for efficiency and cost improvements.
• Maintain precise estimating records in line with company procedures.
• Present estimates and tender submissions to senior management and operational teams.
• Assist in tender negotiations and post-tender clarifications.
• Perform benchmarking and review historical project data to enhance estimating accuracy.
• Facilitate the transition of successful tenders to commercial and project delivery teams.
• Degree/HND level qualified or equivalent in civil engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction, or a related field.
• Relevant professional qualification or membership in a recognized industry organization.
• Experience in major UK water infrastructure programmes, such as AMP delivery programmes.
• Previous role as a Civils Estimator within the construction, civil engineering, or infrastructure sectors.
• Experience estimating projects specifically in the water and wastewater sector is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of civil engineering construction methods, materials, plant, and labor needs.
• Experience in pricing projects involving pipelines, earthworks, concrete structures, drainage, and water infrastructure.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and tender documentation.
• Strong commercial acumen with an understanding of project costs, risks, and margins.
• Experience in obtaining and evaluating quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Strong numerical and analytical capabilities with exceptional attention to detail.
• Good knowledge of estimating and cost management systems, along with proficient Microsoft Excel skills.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines while ensuring accuracy.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary pre-construction team.
