Estimating Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the development of the estimating team, oversee departmental proposal capacity, and ensure high-quality proposals.

• Take responsibility for specific departmental templates and processes.

• Mentor and support team members in their professional and personal development.

• Create competitive and accurate project budgets in response to client RFPs.

• Analyze client RFP documents to assess scope, schedule, and design criteria.

• Conduct and review detailed material takeoffs based on design documents and drawings.

• Manage the creation of proposal documents for customer submissions.

• Develop subcontractor bid packages, solicit pricing, and promote competitive and innovative solutions.

• Respond to subcontractor RFIs and oversee bid evaluation and statistical normalization.

• Make selections for subcontractors and provide cost recommendations.

• Foster alignment between Estimating and Operations teams.

• Compile and manage pricing for detailed and indicative utility-scale solar and storage projects.

• Ensure the accuracy and completeness of estimates prior to the Preconstruction Leadership Team review.

• Identify and implement value-engineering opportunities in collaboration with Business Development, Engineering, Procurement, and Operations.

• Assist in client and subcontractor contract negotiations and updates to project pricing.

• Aid Procurement in finalizing scopes, schedules, and budgets for subcontractors.

• Perform budget tracking and cost variance analysis.

• Support project teams in managing change orders and construction-related issues.

• Provide historical context for design decisions and vendor/subcontractor selections.

• Report to the Director of Estimating and collaborate with leadership, estimating teams, pre-construction, business development, operations, procurement, customers, engineers, vendors, and trade partners.

• Required experience in self-perform construction/estimating, utility-scale solar, and/or battery storage systems.

• Demonstrated leadership experience.

• Strong skills in coordination, time management, active listening, verbal and written communication, critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and problem-solving.

• Exceptional attention to detail and a strong appreciation for accuracy.

• Self-motivated and committed to team success.

• Ability to learn quickly and independently.

• Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office.

• Strong Excel skills are essential.

• Experience with MS Project is preferred.

• Familiarity with Procore is a plus.

• A natural curiosity and a results-driven, problem-solving mindset.

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or a related field.

• Prior experience in self-perform estimating is required.

• Experience in subcontract tendering and evaluation is essential.

• Experience with solar and/or battery storage systems is required.

• Prior experience in self-perform construction is preferred.

• Familiarity with B2W estimating software is preferred.
