Epic Interface Engine Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Design, construct, test, implement, and maintain interfaces between Epic and external systems utilizing Epic Bridges and Cloverleaf.

• Assess business and technical requirements for new interfaces, modifications to existing interfaces, and system enhancements.

• Create and update interface specifications, mappings, workflows, and technical documentation.

• Oversee interface processing, error queues, and message delivery to ensure prompt issue resolution.

• Diagnose interface failures, data inconsistencies, formatting challenges, and connectivity issues across integrated applications.

• Collaborate with Epic analysts, application teams, vendors, infrastructure, and operational stakeholders to facilitate interface development and address issues.

• Support healthcare data exchange standards, including HL7 v2.x, FHIR, X12, XML, JSON, and web services/APIs.

• Conduct unit testing, integration testing, and assist with end-to-end testing for interface implementations and upgrades.

• Engage in change management, release planning, and go-live support activities.

• Ensure high availability and operational stability of production interfaces through proactive monitoring and issue prevention.

• Verify that interfaces meet organizational security, privacy, and data governance standards.

• Take part in on-call support rotation and provide after-hours assistance for critical interface incidents as required.

• Recognize opportunities for process enhancement, standardization, automation, and optimization within the interface environment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field; equivalent work experience may be considered.

• Over 7 years of experience in supporting healthcare interfaces within a hospital or healthcare IT setting.

• Practical experience with the Infor Cloverleaf interface engine.

• Familiarity with Epic Bridges and supporting Epic integrations.

• In-depth understanding of HL7 v2, FHIR, X12, XML/JSON, APIs, and web services.

• Experience in troubleshooting interfaces, message parsing, transformations, routing, and error management.

• Knowledge of TCP/IP, SFTP, HTTPS, VPN, and other healthcare integration transport methods.

• Capability to read and interpret interface specifications, message structures, and technical documentation.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.

• Experience in a production support environment with incident and change management procedures.

• Epic certification or proficiency in Epic Bridges is preferred.

• Preferred experience with lab, radiology/PACS, pharmacy, revenue cycle, HIE/public health, medical device, or ancillary clinical integrations.

• Experience with scripting or automation tools is preferred.

• Knowledge of SQL is preferred.

• Familiarity with clinical, financial, and operational healthcare workflows is preferred.

• Experience in a large integrated delivery network, hospital system, or academic medical center is preferred.

• ITIL or other service management experience is a plus.

• Participation in on-call rotation and after-hours critical incident support as required.
