Environmental Project Assessor, Part Time

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Direct and oversee the completion and outcomes of assigned building assessment projects and related services in accordance with ASTM standards and/or client-specific scopes of work.

• Engage in discussions regarding project sites with site contacts and municipal facilities.

• Perform client-facing, on-site building and environmental assessments.

• Generate precise written reports detailing assessment findings and fulfilling specialized client scope requirements.

• Examine prior assessment reports, historical and regulatory records, property records, construction documents, maintenance reports, safety reports, warranties, and repair/improvement costs.

• Liaise with local Building, Zoning, and Fire Departments about outstanding property violations and necessary corrective measures.

• Travel to client locations throughout the U.S.; typical patterns involve one day on-site followed by one day at home, with potential overnight and weekend travel.

• Update the leadership and production teams on project status, issues, and report delivery timelines.

• Inspect building equipment and systems, structures, foundations, interiors, common areas, exteriors, roofs, and pavement.

• Assess mechanical systems and components to detect significant physical deficiencies.

• Gather measurements and quantities to assist in repair, replacement, and reserve-cost estimates.

• Conduct interviews with owners, tenants, service providers, government agencies, and other knowledgeable individuals.

• Provide photographic documentation of sites.

• Create project plans and assessments utilizing professional and technical judgment.

• Serve as the technical lead for specialized projects and protocols.

• Achieve productivity and report-quality goals.

• Deliver prompt customer service and proactive solutions.

• Adhere to company policies, standard operating procedures, work instructions, safety requirements, and quality standards.

• Ensure confidentiality and maintain safe, clean work environments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field, along with a minimum of three years of relevant experience.

• Alternatively, five years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

• A valid driver's license is required with no significant MVA points/violations (clean driving record).

• Current AHERA, Asbestos Inspector Certification, or OSHA-40-hour certification is preferred.

• Competence in writing reports, business correspondence, and standard operating procedures.

• Capability to present information and respond to inquiries from clients, peers, and technical field staff.

• Proficient with computers, including word processing, spreadsheet, and project management software such as Quire and AssetCalc, Microsoft Suite, and other business-specific applications.

• Ability to utilize an electronic tablet in the field for live data collection.

• Knowledge of construction materials and methods, environmental concerns, cost estimating, and industry standards.

• Skill in managing multiple stakeholders.

• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.

• Capacity to work from a remote location.

• Must be able to meet the physical demands of the role.

• A cell phone is required, and candidates must provide their own internet service.

• Willingness to travel by plane, motor vehicle, and train to client sites across the U.S.

• Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, climb stairs and ladders, work in crawl spaces and on roofs, and occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 40 pounds.
