This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +4 more locations.
• Lead gigawatt-scale wind, solar PV, BESS, gas, and data center initiatives from initial development phases to construction.
• Aid in formulating environmental and land use strategies, securing essential permits, and navigating complex regulatory frameworks across the U.S.
• Manage land access for biological, cultural, and other resource assessments.
• Collaborate with internal teams to prepare permit applications, environmental documents, and strategies for permitting execution.
• Oversee external consultants in conducting resource surveys and preparing environmental permitting and financing diligence documentation.
• Supervise project permitting timelines, budgets, and documentation.
• Investigate and summarize specific permitting requirements for projects and monitor regulatory changes.
• Analyze zoning, floodplain, biological resources, wetlands, cultural resources, permitting fees, entitlement processes, and community characteristics to assess project risks.
• Participate in field site visits for site assessments, community engagement, agency coordination, and construction compliance.
• Attend meetings related to land use planning, zoning, and industry associations; document and summarize key takeaways.
• Assist in public meetings and project hearings.
• Create presentations and engage in discussions with agencies, elected officials, communities, environmental NGOs, and Native American tribes.
• Support the preparation, submission, and approval of discretionary permit and entitlement applications by relevant agencies.
• Develop permit compliance documentation for regulatory agencies and external stakeholders.
• Create internal presentation, communication, and approval materials for executives and stakeholders.
• Review permit requirements, maintain compliance matrices, and complete permitting exhibits for project contracts.
• Provide support to Environmental and Permitting team members, including the Head of Environmental & Permitting.
• Collaborate with development, engineering, GIS, community engagement, real estate, legal, construction, and M&A teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Urban or Regional Planning, Natural Resources, Environmental Policy, Political Science, Geography, Geology, Hydrology, Economics, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, or the development of power, energy, transmission, or other large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and quality of work output.
• Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
• Flexibility to adapt to change and capacity to think creatively.
• Capability to work independently and seek clarification when necessary.
• Proficiency in planning, prioritizing, and executing tasks in a timely and precise manner.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and interdisciplinary environment.
• Skill in summarizing complex issues and recognizing opportunities or next steps with minimal guidance.
• Willingness and ability to learn new software platforms and tools, including critical review and QA/QC of generative AI analyses and summaries.
• Readiness and willingness to travel within the United States at least quarterly, with potential for additional project-site travel.
• Proactive and collaborative work approach.
• Dedication to environmental stewardship and genuine stakeholder engagement.
• A Master’s degree or MBA is advantageous.
• Familiarity with land/environmental policy/law is a plus.
• Knowledge of Google Earth and ArcGIS is beneficial.
• Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise, Google Suite, and Slack is an advantage.
