Environmental Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop, implement, and manage environmental strategies and policies across the organization for multiple manufacturing locations.

• Create compliance timelines and collaborate with Operational Leadership to ensure adherence to permitting, testing requirements, and reporting obligations.

• Act as the subject matter expert on permit regulations and environmental issues for a nationwide network of manufacturing facilities.

• Direct corrective action plans to address compliance challenges or deficiencies.

• Serve as the primary point of contact for manufacturing sites, acting as a liaison between external advisors and regulatory agencies.

• Organize or participate in public hearings, conferences, and environmental-related events.

• Build local relationships to support environmental initiatives.

• Track environmental developments and legislative changes that may impact the business.

• Travel to manufacturing locations for inspections and on-site testing.

• Assess and refine environmental strategies as necessary.

• Acquire knowledge and apply environmental control measures as well as sourcing equipment and processes to facilitate compliance, enhancements, and capital expenditure decisions.

• Provide training for leaders on environmental compliance matters.

• Assist with environmental assessments and integration efforts related to strategic mergers and acquisitions.

• Promote awareness of internal environmental issues, including communication with executive leadership.

• Help establish operational priorities, ensuring that environmental considerations are integrated into daily operations, projects, and long-term strategies.

• Influence and lead initiatives without direct authority.

⛳️ Requirements

• Preferred Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or a related discipline.

• Relevant experience in environmental programs and compliance (Air, Stormwater, etc.), ideally within a manufacturing setting.

• Experience in the paper and/or wood (biomass) industry is advantageous.

• Familiarity with rotary drying equipment is a plus.

• Knowledge and experience with emission control processes and technologies (e.g., cyclones, scrubbers, multi-clones, and wet electrostatic precipitators) for various burner combustion technologies – biomass, natural gas.

• Strong analytical and forward-thinking capabilities.

• Outstanding communication and motivational abilities.

• High degree of technical and analytical proficiency.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Willingness to travel to manufacturing sites, with travel requirements at 50%.
