Environmental Impact Assessment Professional

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Oversee the development and implementation of environmental and impact assessment strategies for extensive resource, mining, nuclear, energy, and infrastructure projects.

• Manage the preparation and evaluation of Environmental Impact Statements, Environmental Assessments, and submissions under the Impact Assessment Act, along with relevant technical documentation.

• Incorporate environmental, engineering, operational, commercial, and social factors into project planning and regulatory decisions.

• Provide guidance on project risks, regulatory pathways, approval processes, and mitigation strategies.

• Formulate and execute permitting and regulatory approval strategies.

• Collaborate with federal, provincial, territorial, and municipal regulatory bodies.

• Lead the preparation of regulatory submissions, permit applications, licensing tasks, and compliance initiatives.

• Facilitate engagement with Indigenous Nations, communities, government agencies, industry groups, and external stakeholders.

• Integrate Indigenous knowledge, rights, interests, and participation into project planning.

• Help resolve environmental, regulatory, and permitting challenges.

• Represent organizations in public forums, industry associations, regulatory hearings, and high-level stakeholder meetings.

• Manage multidisciplinary teams including environmental scientists, engineers, hydrogeologists, biologists, social specialists, and other technical experts.

• Supervise environmental baseline studies, effects assessments, monitoring initiatives, mitigation planning, and closure strategies.

• Promote continuous improvement in environmental performance, risk management, and project execution.

• Advise executives and project sponsors regarding environmental strategies, risks, policies, and project approvals.

• Propel business development, proposal drafting, client relationship management, and strategic growth efforts.

• Oversee project budgets, resource allocation, staffing, forecasting, and financial performance.

• Mentor emerging professionals and enhance organizational capabilities.

• Lead strategies for mine closure, reclamation, and long-term stewardship.

• Prepare closure plans, liability evaluations, and cost projections.

• Foster environmental stewardship and sustainable development throughout the project lifecycle.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Master's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Ecology, Toxicology, Natural Resources, or a related field is preferred.

• A professional designation (P.Biol., P.Ag., P.Geo., P.Eng., RPP, EP, or equivalent) is considered advantageous.

• Over 15 years of progressively responsible experience in environmental impact assessment, permitting, and regulatory affairs.

• Proven leadership in major infrastructure, mining, energy, nuclear, or resource development projects.

• Experience managing multidisciplinary technical teams and navigating complex stakeholder environments.

• A track record of successfully obtaining environmental approvals and advancing projects through regulatory frameworks.

• Expertise in impact assessment and regulatory issues.

• Experience with Indigenous and stakeholder engagement.

• Strong leadership and mentorship skills.

• Commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
