Environment and Prop Artist – 3-month contract

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with Art Leadership to ensure compliance with set metrics and asset creation methodologies, emphasizing speed and efficiency.

• Produce high-quality 3D hard-surface assets, such as modular kits, props, and set dressing, in a realistic and grounded style.

• Oversee the entire workflow from asset creation to implementation, including modeling, UV mapping, baking, texturing, material creation, exporting, and in-engine integration.

• Utilize existing assets, textures, and materials to develop new assets from comprehensive libraries.

• Create and uphold a consistent environmental style while addressing both detail and technical specifications.

• Develop intricate hard-surface environmental kits, props, and materials for a AAA sci-fi action game.

• Work alongside art leadership and interdisciplinary teams to ensure kits align with established metrics and practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a hard-surface environment, dungeon, or prop artist.

• Impressive portfolio that highlights previous work on titles or projects within an engine.

• Strong understanding of PBR workflows and material definition using tools like Substance Painter and Photoshop.

• Proficient in hard-surface modeling software such as Maya, Blender, Plasticity, or equivalent modern authoring tools.

• Excellent technical execution and problem-solving abilities.

• A strong desire to collaborate and a willingness to receive constructive feedback.

• A passion for grounded and immersive science fiction.

• Familiarity with 3ds Max and Substance Designer.

• Experience working with proprietary engines.

• Legally authorized to work in Canada and currently residing in Canada.
