Enterprise Data Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and oversee data architecture across operational systems, cloud platforms, and analytics environments.

• Develop and sustain conceptual, logical, and physical data models that support risk adjustment, HEDIS reporting, Star ratings, and CMS encounter data submissions.

• Create and enforce data governance frameworks that include data quality, lineage, PHI/PII classification, and audit readiness.

• Integrate both structured and unstructured data from claims systems, EHRs, pharmacy platforms, and third-party sources into cohesive data pipelines.

• Define and maintain security architecture that complies with HIPAA, CMS, and SOC 2 standards.

• Assess and recommend data platforms, cloud technologies, and vendors.

• Act as the primary technical data partner for leaders in clinical operations, population health, finance, product, and compliance.

• Scope and pilot new capabilities including generative AI, FHIR interoperability, and real-time streaming.

• Provide leadership through technical authority and cross-functional influence without direct supervisory responsibilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive experience in data architecture, enterprise data integration, and database design.

• At least 2 years of experience in a health plan, payer, or healthcare delivery system with direct knowledge of claims data, EHRs, HEDIS, and CMS reporting environments.

• Experience in designing data platforms in regulated, audit-sensitive environments involving PHI and PII datasets, including canonical models for Enterprise Data Platforms.

• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or GCP and modern architectural patterns such as data lakes, lakehouses, and real-time streaming.

• Proven experience leading cross-functional architecture initiatives and influencing senior stakeholders without direct authority.

• Experience in an agile delivery model.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be accepted.

• Demonstrated proficiency with Azure Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or similar technologies, gained through hands-on project experience.

• Expert-level knowledge in conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling using Kimball, Inmon, or Data Vault methodologies.

• Practical experience with Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or Redshift; understanding of data lake and lakehouse architectures.

• Working knowledge of ETL/ELT tools and orchestration platforms such as Informatica, Talend, dbt, and Airflow.

• Applied knowledge of Medicare Advantage data constructs including HIPAA, CMS encounter data, HEDIS, STAR ratings, risk adjustment/HCC coding, and ICD-10/CPT codes.

• Ability to design and enforce governance frameworks, data classification, lineage tracking, and PHI/PII protection in regulated environments.

• Advanced proficiency in SQL; working knowledge of Python or Scala for data engineering and pipeline use cases.

• Familiarity with MLflow, Feature Store, vector databases, LangChain, and generative AI APIs in healthcare data settings.

• Preferred experience with Medicare Advantage programs, AI/ML and generative AI, DataOps, FHIR, and HL7.
