English Instructor – FT

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.

📋 Description

• Teach small groups of students core English skills to ensure long-term comprehension and strong performance on the ACT and SAT.

• Monitor student progress using Vanguard’s multi-phase curriculum.

• Provide individualized opportunities for student growth and improvement.

• Keep student lesson schedules current and organized.

• Ensure students are accountable for completing their assignments.

• Demonstrate professionalism and excellent organizational skills through timely communication with students.

• Design and creatively implement evolving lesson plans and curriculum.

• Support middle and high school students with empathy throughout the college application process.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in a humanities discipline from U.S. institutions (such as English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Publishing, etc.); a Master’s degree or higher is preferred.

• At least one year of teaching experience in English and/or experience in a college-level Writing Center.

• Proven academic excellence (e.g., a GPA of 3.5 or higher).

• Exceptional verbal communication skills and mastery of the English language.

• Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and Google Workspace.

• Access to a reliable internet connection and a workspace with minimal noise and distractions.

• Willingness to work during designated Hours of Operations.

• Prior experience teaching at the college or community college level is preferred.

• Strong understanding of instructional pedagogy.

• Ability to develop customized and engaging lesson plans using practical, real-world scenarios.

• Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team setting.
