English Instructor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Louisiana.

📋 Description

• Teach small groups of students essential English skills to ensure long-term understanding and achieve strong ACT/SAT scores.

• Monitor and evaluate student progress through Vanguard’s multi-phase curriculum.

• Involve students in personalized growth and improvement opportunities.

• Organize and update student lesson schedules consistently.

• Hold students accountable for completing assignments.

• Demonstrate professionalism and strong organizational skills through timely communication with students.

• Design and creatively implement evolving lesson plans and curriculum.

• Guide middle and high school students through the college application process.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in a humanities field from US institutions (such as English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Publishing, etc.); a Master’s degree or higher is preferred.

• At least 1 year of teaching experience in English and/or experience in a college-level Writing Center.

• Proven academic excellence (e.g., a GPA of 3.5 or higher).

• Excellent verbal communication skills and mastery of the English language.

• Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and Google Workspace.

• A reliable internet connection and a workspace with minimal noise and distractions.

• A commitment to working during the specified hours of operation.

• Preferred experience teaching at the college or community college level.

• Strong understanding of classroom pedagogy and the ability to develop customized, engaging lesson plans.

• Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
