English Instructor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa.

📋 Description

• Teach small groups of students essential English skills for lasting comprehension and improved ACT/SAT performance.

• Monitor student advancement through Vanguard’s multi-phase curriculum.

• Encourage students to pursue individualized growth and improvement opportunities.

• Organize and update student lesson schedules regularly.

• Hold students responsible for completing assignments.

• Demonstrate professionalism and strong organizational skills through timely communication with students.

• Develop and creatively implement dynamic lesson plans and curriculum.

• Guide middle and high school students throughout the college application journey.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in a humanities discipline from US institutions (English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Publishing, etc.).

• At least one year of teaching experience in English and/or experience in a college-level Writing Center.

• Proven academic excellence (e.g., a GPA of 3.5 or higher).

• Exceptional verbal communication skills and mastery of the English language.

• Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and Google Suite.

• A reliable internet connection and a distraction-free workspace.

• Willingness to work during the specified Hours of Operations.

• Experience teaching at the college or community college level is preferred.

• Strong knowledge of classroom pedagogy.

• Capability to design custom, engaging lesson plans that incorporate practical, real-world examples.

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
