Engineering Manager, Verification and Validation – STATCOM

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Oversee the operations and ongoing enhancement of the RTDS laboratory, focusing on test automation, tool improvements, process development, and long-term capability enhancement.

• Lead and cultivate the local STATCOM engineering team, including planning work, prioritizing tasks, coaching, mentoring, and managing performance.

• Take ownership of the verification and validation scope for projects, which encompasses deliverables, timelines, technical interfaces, and adherence to customer requirements.

• Plan and manage testing for control systems, protection, and system-level assessments, including laboratory validation, hardware-in-the-loop tests, and support for commissioning.

• Analyze test outcomes, drive resolution of issues, and ensure prompt closure of validation findings.

• Assist in customer interactions, technical evaluations, and proposal activities related to testing and validation.

• Ensure the production of high-quality technical documentation, such as validation plans, procedures, specifications, and test reports.

• Advocate for safe laboratory practices by identifying EHS risks and instituting improvements.

• Encourage accountability, teamwork, technical excellence, and a culture of continuous improvement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.

• At least 10 years of experience in verification, validation, testing, or control systems engineering within power systems or power electronics applications.

• A minimum of 5 years of proven experience in leading engineering teams, technical workstreams, or functional activities.

• At least 5 years of experience with real-time testing, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), or laboratory validation of control systems.

• A minimum of 5 years of practical experience with RTDS or similar real-time digital simulation platforms.

• At least 5 years of experience with control theory, power system dynamics, and grid-connected devices.

• Proficient in English (both spoken and written).

• Willingness to travel approximately 10–25% for testing, commissioning, and customer interactions.

• Must possess legal authorization to work in the United States.

• Successful completion of a drug screening, if applicable.
