Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Guide application developers through the entire process of designing, developing, testing, delivering, and maintaining full-stack applications.

• Offer hands-on technical leadership by providing design guidance, conducting code reviews, troubleshooting issues, and occasionally writing production code.

• Take ownership of application-level design decisions encompassing front-end components, back-end services, APIs, databases, and integrations.

• Oversee engineers through regular one-on-one meetings, performance evaluations, constructive feedback sessions, and career development planning.

• Mentor engineers while demonstrating accountability, sound judgment, collaboration, and a commitment to continuous learning.

• Organize and prioritize team tasks, estimate workloads, assign responsibilities, and manage capacity and progress towards delivery milestones.

• Collaborate with product, program, data, and client stakeholders to clarify requirements, define project scope, and translate business needs into technical solutions.

• Ensure high standards of code quality, automated testing, application security, and documentation while adhering to client SDLC processes and governance requirements.

• Work closely with the Cloud Architect to coordinate application deployment needs and resolve dependencies.

• Communicate technical trade-offs, delivery updates, risks, and recommendations; maintain delivery plans, address any blockers, and escalate issues as necessary.

• Enhance development and delivery practices while balancing commitments, software quality, and the growth of engineers.

• A pragmatic and well-rounded technologist capable of guiding application design, mentoring engineers, and exemplifying effective leadership.

• Proven experience in full-stack software development.

• Proficient in providing technical guidance, performing code reviews, troubleshooting issues, and contributing to production code.

• Solid understanding of front-end components, back-end services, APIs, databases, and integrations.

• Competent in managing engineers through one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, feedback sessions, and career development planning.

• Skilled in planning and prioritizing tasks, estimating workloads, assigning responsibilities, and managing team capacity and delivery progress.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with product, program, data, and client stakeholders.

• Knowledgeable about automated testing, application security, documentation, SDLC processes, and governance requirements.

• Capable of communicating technical trade-offs, delivery status, risks, and recommendations clearly.

• Proficient in addressing blockers and escalating issues as needed.
