Engineering Manager – Banking

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France, +6 more countries.

📋 Description

• Oversee, mentor, and assist a team of 4–8 engineers

• Set clear expectations, offer constructive feedback, and foster engineers’ development

• Collaborate with the Product Manager to establish priorities, delivery plans, and technical direction

• Contribute to team OKRs that are aligned with customer needs, business objectives, and technical realities

• Coordinate efforts with Compliance, Operations, Product, Design, and other engineering teams

• Evaluate technical proposals and clearly articulate trade-offs

• Participate in creating design documents, conducting code reviews, following up on incidents, and executing complex implementations

• Enhance delivery practices, observability, reliability, on-call processes, and engineering quality

• Take ownership of the reliability and availability of systems within the team's scope

• Collaborate with Product and Design to establish a technical vision

• Advocate for technical choices and trade-offs to peers and leadership

• Engage in and lead incident management as necessary

⛳️ Requirements

• Previous experience managing engineers, in roles such as Engineering Manager, Tech Lead, or Team Lead

• Engineering background sufficient to engage in credible technical discussions about backend systems, data flow, correctness constraints, and technical trade-offs

• Familiarity with event-driven architectures and asynchronous systems

• Understanding of correctness, auditability, and reliability in regulated financial systems

• Comfortable establishing structure in ambiguous environments and clarifying ownership

• Ability to communicate technical trade-offs to engineers, Product Managers, Compliance leads, and VPs

• Experience working in remote or hybrid settings with distributed, multicultural teams

• Capacity to collaborate across multiple systems, teams, and stakeholders

• Ability to engage in system design and distributed-systems exercises
