Engineering Manager, Trusted Agentic Development

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Assemble and expand the team by recruiting and nurturing engineers who embrace agentic development.

• Establish a framework for validating software created by agents in an uncharted domain.

• Guide the team towards addressing the most impactful version of the issue at hand.

• Foster platform adoption across GitLab by creating a valuable resource through collaboration with other teams.

• Assess engineer adoption and trust by analyzing actual usage, utilizing insights to prioritize enhancements.

• Participate in architectural and design discussions, as well as review proposals.

• Lead the team with clear objectives, constructive feedback, performance management, and accountability for complex tasks from planning to execution.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience utilizing AI agents to develop software, including insights gained from both successes and challenges, along with a strong perspective on why a passing test suite is not equivalent to functional software.

• Experience in guiding engineering teams through uncertain, early-stage challenges where the optimal strategy was not yet established.

• Capability to drive adoption through influence and a valuable product rather than through authority, including collaboration with teams outside of your management.

• Technical expertise to engage sincerely in discussions regarding architecture and validation strategies, earning the trust of senior engineers.

• A track record of forming accountable, high-performing teams, which includes effective hiring, team member development, and directly addressing performance issues.

• Excellent written communication skills suited for an all-remote, asynchronous work environment.
