This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland, +4 more countries.
• Lead an engineering team, taking responsibility for delivery and professional growth.
• Foster continuous enhancement through rapid iterations.
• Support engineers' development via one-on-ones, growth plans, performance appraisals, and honest feedback.
• Cultivate future tech leads, engineering managers, staff engineers, and senior individual contributors.
• Write, review, and maintain code at a senior level.
• Drive architectural and technical design decisions alongside senior individual contributors.
• Maintain engineering standards through pull-request evaluations and a robust release process.
• Lead an AI-enhanced engineering team while adhering to quality standards.
• Manage team commitments, planning, prioritization, and delivery.
• Collaborate with the Technical Product Owner and Product team regarding scope, sequencing, trade-offs, and roadmaps.
• Ensure alignment of engineering efforts with broader business objectives.
• Reassess, reprioritize, and reallocate resources as business needs evolve.
• Oversee hiring, interviewing, recruiting, coaching, and performance evaluations.
• Mentor fellow engineering managers and share operational best practices.
• Communicate context and prioritize escalations to leadership.
• Empower senior engineers to take ownership of product areas.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, GTM, Customer Success, and other teams.
• 10+ years of engineering experience, including 4+ years in engineering management roles where coding was a key responsibility.
• Practical experience in developing cloud-based SaaS products and managing services in production on Azure; AWS/GCP experience is a plus.
• Proven experience in overseeing availability, cost, and customer-facing aspects of production services.
• Strong background in understanding and leading teams within the FinOps domain.
• API-first approach; products accessible through APIs for both humans and agents.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary teams, including full-stack and data engineers.
• Demonstrated success in visibly transforming engineering teams with measurable enhancements in delivery speed, technical quality, or team capability.
• Deep technical proficiency in the team's primary technology stack; capacity to read, write, and review code at a senior level.
• Solid philosophy regarding hiring, coaching, performance management, and technical decision-making.
• Exceptional judgment under pressure and the ability to make decisions with incomplete information.
• Direct and candid communication skills.
• Strong knowledge or experience in Golang (bonus).
• Established AI-augmented workflow and experience utilizing AI tools and agentic workflows (bonus).
• Hands-on experience with multiple cloud providers (bonus).
• Experience in scaling teams, processes, or technical systems (bonus).
