This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Oversee the Bonfire Squad, a full-stack team of senior engineers developing Spotify’s artist promotion tool campaign management system and customer features.
• Cultivate relationships among engineers, cross-functional leads, Bonfire, and partner teams.
• Mentor, guide, and nurture experienced engineers while establishing expectations, growth opportunities, and a positive team atmosphere.
• Participate in discussions on technical architecture and implementation to challenge assumptions and pinpoint risks.
• Collaborate with Product and Design on project priorities, scope, product direction, customer decisions, and UX considerations.
• Ensure effective delivery through prioritization, capacity management, operational health, and the reliable execution of complex initiatives.
• Manage dependencies and ensure alignment across team boundaries.
• Actively contribute to technical problem-solving and engineering tasks when beneficial.
• Assist the team in effectively utilizing AI within engineering workflows and product operations.
• Recruit and onboard engineers as the team progresses.
• Significant experience managing software engineers and a proven history of developing and overseeing skilled technical individual contributors.
• Strong foundation in backend or full-stack engineering.
• Capacity to engage credibly in architectural and technical design discussions.
• Product-oriented mindset with the ability to question assumptions in product requirements.
• Skill in balancing the empowerment of experienced engineers with the provision of leadership when necessary.
• Proficiency in managing significant technical and product dependencies with partner teams.
• Willingness and capability to contribute hands-on as a player-coach when suitable.
• Comfort with using AI tools and a perspective on enhancing engineering effectiveness through AI.
• Ability to provide clear feedback, navigate disagreements, set expectations, and address team dynamics constructively.
