Engineering Manager – Grafana Application Security

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Oversee the application security team, focusing on application security, cloud security, and the development of internal tools.

• Manage both first- and third-party vulnerability assessments, ensuring coordinated disclosures and timely fixes.

• Establish and execute the engineering strategy in collaboration with security leadership, team members, and business partners.

• Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, providing coaching, mentorship, and ongoing feedback.

• Work alongside engineering leaders and stakeholders to shape product strategy, roadmaps, and design initiatives.

• Engage in major incidents by preparing, simulating, responding, and communicating with customers.

• Contribute to and evaluate design documents, confirm project readiness for development, and offer advice on task breakdown.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in leading a security engineering team.

• Strong engineering foundation with the capability to engage in technical discussions.

• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with autonomous engineering teams.

• Current knowledge of technical trends and security issues.

• DevOps-oriented mindset emphasizing enablement, automation, and guardrails.

• Familiarity with securing and operating in public cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, and Azure.

• Knowledge of Kubernetes.

• Experience with securing both open-source software (OSS) and SaaS products.

• Proficiency in conveying complex cybersecurity concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Bonus: Experience in programming or software engineering.
