This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland, +1 more state.
• Lead the Ecommerce team within Phorest’s Consumer sector, taking responsibility for its overall health, productivity, and impact.
• Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Product Leads, and stakeholders to shape the overarching consumer strategy.
• Balance the introduction of new capabilities with technical maintenance during each development cycle.
• Identify bottlenecks within the team, enhance processes, and apply best practices in software delivery.
• Monitor progress across teams to ensure timely and quality releases of capabilities.
• Advocate for observability, set SLOs, implement monitoring, and proactively resolve reliability issues.
• Establish quality processes, uphold code quality, define automated testing strategies, and guarantee test coverage.
• Actively contribute to team efforts, review code, and assist in the design and implementation of intricate distributed systems.
• Provide guidance on technical solutions that promote scalability, resilience, and reliability.
• Manage a scrum team through one-on-one meetings, coaching, feedback, performance evaluations, and career development.
• Participate in Product and Engineering management meetings to influence decisions across the group.
• Report on progress, strategy, and challenges to the Head of Engineering of the Consumer group.
• Enhance Phorest’s engineering brand through speaking engagements and blog contributions.
• Over 3 years of proven impact in a comparable leadership position with hands-on experience in people management.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related area.
• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in object-oriented software design, primarily using Java.
• Capability to lead team strategy, roadmaps, objectives, and sustainable delivery.
• Strong coaching skills and the ability to clearly communicate expectations and provide feedback.
• Established relationships with product counterparts and external stakeholders.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to articulate ideas in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Previous hands-on development experience with complex distributed systems.
• Experience in working with and managing Agile teams.
• Proven track record of enhancing the complete development process.
• Experience in mentoring engineers and supporting their career advancement.
