Engineering Manager, DevEx

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Oversee the DevEx Deploy & Run team at Slice

• Collaborate with engineering leadership to pinpoint developer challenges and platform opportunities

• Assess and enhance deployment speed, system reliability, platform usage, and developer efficiency

• Steer the architectural and technical direction of the Internal Developer Platform, deployment processes, and cloud infrastructure

• Develop reusable patterns, self-service tools, automation, and operational guidelines

• Provide platform engineers with context, decision-making frameworks, and significant ownership

• Enhance platform delivery frequency, standardization of workflows, observability, and operational excellence

• Recruit, mentor, and retain platform and software engineers

• Collaborate with engineering teams to promote platform adoption through teamwork and documentation

• Lead cross-functional initiatives across teams in the US, Canada, UK, and Europe

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in managing high-performing platform engineering teams

• Proficient in project planning, tracking, and team roadmap creation

• Technical expertise in Kubernetes, GitOps (ArgoCD), CI/CD (GitHub Actions), Python automation, AWS, Terraform, and Datadog

• Demonstrated success in enhancing developer experience, deployment reliability, and engineering effectiveness

• Platform-oriented mindset emphasizing reusable systems, self-service tools, and scalable guidelines

• Effective and straightforward communication among technical platform teams and product engineering stakeholders

• Comfortable leading teams utilizing Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, cloud-native architecture, ArgoCD, GitOps, Python, GitHub Actions, CI/CD, network architecture, DNS, Cloudflare, Datadog, Terraform, and generative AI tools including LLM APIs
