Engineering Manager – DataTech

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ukraine, +5 more countries.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of delivery and engineering results for the DataTech teams.

• Be responsible for aspects such as delivery, velocity, quality, reliability, and scalability.

• Align tasks with DataTech priorities utilizing visualization and reporting techniques.

• Ensure successful execution across stages including refinement, design, estimation, implementation, testing, and deployment.

• Identify gaps in execution and enhance delivery practices in collaboration with SDE Leads.

• Promote the adoption of AI-enabled SDLC, including SDD frameworks and methodologies.

• Manage both short- and long-term capacity and capability planning.

• Allocate team members based on priorities and delivery commitments.

• Highlight capacity and delivery risks while driving mitigation strategies.

• Oversee platform stability, reliability, performance, and overall quality.

• Ensure effective customer support, incident management, observability, and operational processes.

• Balance delivery with technical health and operational requirements.

• Lead engineers and SDE Leads through coaching, feedback, growth, and performance management.

• Build and develop teams through hiring, onboarding, and skill-mix enhancement.

• Maintain positive team dynamics and proactively address personnel issues.

• Enhance engineering practices and foster collaboration.

• Collaborate with Product, Data, and other domains to align plans and manage dependencies.

• Participate in domain-level planning and cross-team collaboration.

• Demonstrated engineering leadership experience overseeing multiple software/data engineering teams.

• Proven track record in delivery, including enhancements in planning, prioritization, and execution.

• Ability to leverage delivery data, visualization, and reporting to identify challenges and drive enhancements.

• Strong skills in people management, including coaching, performance management, and team development.

• Sound technical judgment with the ability to collaborate with engineering leads to refine delivery practices.

• Proficient in utilizing GenAI and SDD.

• Clear communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Ownership mindset with accountability for delivery, long-term quality, and maintainability.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Bonus: Experience in data ingestion, processing, or curation domains.

• Bonus: Familiarity with Stream-Aligned Teams / Team Topologies.

• Bonus: Experience with Architecture, Platform, SRE, and other enabling teams.

• Bonus: Experience in enhancing observability, reliability, and incident management for backend/data services.

• Tech stack exposure: Java 21, Kubernetes/GitOps, Spring Boot, MFE Architecture, OpenAPI, PostgreSQL, Kafka, and Redis.
