This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +6 more states.
• Take complete ownership of the delivery process across the data platform, which includes streaming, warehousing, modeling, and pipelines.
• Mentor, guide, and develop data engineers through career advancement, performance feedback, and management.
• Assess real-time streaming designs and analyze warehouse architecture along with data modeling trade-offs.
• Ensure the establishment of reliable data contracts, maintain documented models, and implement changes that do not adversely affect downstream consumers.
• Assume responsibility for delivery and leadership of the ML function as it expands.
• Collaborate with Product and engineering leadership on roadmaps, risks, and team prioritization.
• Lead initiatives for data-quality monitoring, incident management, and conducting post-mortem analyses.
• Integrate FinOps practices to enhance cost visibility and accountability within the platform.
• Report directly to a Senior Engineering Manager and work alongside Product, engineering, finance, and revenue operations teams.
• Proven experience in managing a team of data engineers, responsible for their delivery, growth, and performance.
• Strong technical expertise in streaming architecture, data modeling, and large-scale production systems.
• Experience in building and maintaining data platforms at scale.
• Familiarity with medallion architecture, event streaming, warehousing, and transformation frameworks such as DBT.
• Experience in coaching engineers across a wide range of seniority, including Staff-level talent.
• Exposure to machine learning, including managing or supporting ML engineers and an understanding of production model lifecycles.
• Capability to work independently and navigate through ambiguity effectively.
• Nice to have: experience in payments, fintech, or finance domains.
• Nice to have: familiarity with Kafka, Snowflake, Firebolt, DBT, AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, and data mesh concepts.
