This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.
• Lead and cultivate a team of cloud software engineers through coaching, mentoring, providing feedback, and creating growth opportunities.
• Empower engineers to spearhead initiatives, acknowledge contributions, and promote accountability.
• Foster an inclusive and psychologically safe environment that encourages collaboration, learning, innovation, and respectful challenges.
• Assist with hiring, onboarding, succession planning, and knowledge-sharing efforts.
• Enhance and refine current Go-based healthcare platforms.
• Design and develop Go services and components for cloud-based platforms.
• Create high-volume, low-latency services for a global healthcare platform.
• Develop and integrate APIs for medical data sharing with partner systems.
• Work in conjunction with Information Security to design and implement secure solutions.
• Ensure optimal platform performance, scalability, reliability, and uptime.
• Contribute to architectural and operational decisions alongside Architecture and Platform leadership.
• Identify capacity constraints, risks, dependencies, and execution challenges while effectively communicating progress and trade-offs.
• Align platform priorities with technical product owners and business stakeholders.
• Balance delivery objectives with long-term platform sustainability, quality, security, observability, operability, performance, and reduction of technical debt.
• Assess experimentation and innovation based on customer needs, evidence, risks, and value.
• Build strong relationships across Product, Security, Quality, Regulatory, business, and technology teams.
• Lead technical planning, design reviews, and advocate for engineering best practices.
• Keep abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, recommending innovative solutions.
• Support company initiatives and ensure compliance with FDA and relevant global regulatory standards.
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or another relevant field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 8 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience.
• Leadership style rooted in humility, curiosity, accountability, and service.
• Experience in supporting engineers across various product teams, programs, or matrixed environments.
• Software engineering experience with cloud-based or distributed systems.
• Technical fluency to engage in architecture, risk, and delivery discussions.
• Ability to coach engineers in problem-solving, decision-making, and professional development.
• Experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining complex asynchronous messaging and backend processing jobs.
• Proven track record of contributing to scalable, highly available, maintainable, and monitorable system architectures.
• Ability to translate business and product objectives into engineering priorities, delivery plans, and measurable outcomes.
• Capacity to balance delivery speed with reliability, security, quality, maintainability, and long-term platform health.
• Comfortable working asynchronously with a distributed team.
• Strong written, verbal, and listening communication skills.
• Solid foundation in Computer Science principles and software development experience.
• Preferred: Experience leading production teams using Go or modern cloud-native programming languages.
• Preferred: Familiarity with public-cloud platforms and managed database, messaging, event-streaming, API, and service technologies.
• Preferred: Approach to treating an internal platform as a product.
• Preferred: Experience with agile product development, automated testing, continuous delivery, observability, and secure development practices.
• Preferred: Background in digital health, medical devices, or another regulated industry.
• Preferred: Experience with software products subject to FDA or comparable regulatory requirements.
