This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +5 more countries.
• Lead engineering initiatives to establish and maintain Reap’s card programs in new markets.
• Oversee the complete engineering delivery for market entry, including integration with regulatory frameworks and processor configurations.
• Manage dependencies across various teams including Treasury, Onboarding, Compliance, Infrastructure, Data Warehouse, and others.
• Shape engineering strategy and engage in technical design discussions.
• Direct engineering workstreams concerning local Visa/Mastercard regulations, BIN sponsor responsibilities, open banking standards, and regional compliance frameworks.
• Integrate local vendors, issuer processors, and BIN sponsor systems effectively.
• Convert regulatory requirements into defined engineering deliverables by collaborating with Product, Compliance, and Legal teams.
• Facilitate sequenced delivery across Card Platform, Treasury/Ledger, Onboarding/KYC-KYB, Regulatory Reporting, Chargeback/Disputes, Infrastructure, Data Warehouse, and Security Governance.
• Develop cross-team engineering plans, identify obstacles, manage timelines, and ensure stakeholder alignment.
• Create on-call runbooks, incident response plans, and SLAs for operational markets.
• Manage post-launch monitoring, alerting, incident response, and ensure engineering stability.
• Promote continuous improvement based on issues such as authorization failures, chargebacks, reconciliation challenges, and SLA violations.
• Contribute to the foundational development of the card platform and identify infrastructure enhancement opportunities.
• Implement scalable and reusable market-specific solutions while balancing delivery speed and the long-term health of the platform.
• 8+ years of experience in software engineering.
• 2+ years in a technical leadership or management position.
• Demonstrated experience in building and managing systems related to payments, risk/fraud, card infrastructure, financial reconciliation, or API platforms.
• Capacity to lead cross-functional engineering projects and influence architectural decisions.
• Strong systems thinking with the ability to design fault-tolerant, observable, and scalable services.
• High standards for code quality, reliability, and peer review processes.
• Excellent communication skills with a respectful approach to challenging ideas.
• Experience with TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, and AWS is valued; strong engineering fundamentals are preferred over specific tools.
• Background in high-availability financial systems with real-time transaction processing is preferred.
• Familiarity with Visa and Mastercard networks and card lifecycle management is preferred.
• Exposure to 3DS, tokenization, digital wallets, and PCI compliance is preferred.
• Experience leading teams in fast-paced, high-growth environments is preferred.
• Familiarity with NewRelic, Datadog, OpenTelemetry, and CI/CD automation is preferred.
• Experience in launching card programs in new geographical locations is preferred.
• Understanding of financial regulations across multiple jurisdictions is preferred.
• Proven track record of cross-functional delivery across teams with shared dependencies is preferred.
• Familiarity with AI/LLM-assisted development is preferred.
