Engineering Manager – Bank Accounts

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +4 more locations.

📋 Description

• Lead a team comprising 4 to 8 senior engineers to ensure the delivery of high-availability banking services.

• Convert the company's vision and product strategy into clear, measurable objectives for the team.

• Develop a reliable delivery framework that highlights progress, risks, and trade-offs.

• Strike a balance between customer-focused enhancements and the reliability, operational readiness, and long-term maintainability of the platform.

• Collaborate with Product, Design, Risk, Compliance, and Operations to ensure that Mercury’s banking products are dependable, comprehensible, and beneficial.

• Recruit and onboard engineers while upholding a consistent, high-standard interview process.

• Hold the team responsible for the ethical application of AI-assisted development, which includes testing, evaluation, review, and production safeguards.

• Provide clear and constructive feedback to engineers at all levels.

• Foster an environment where engineers can excel and develop both technical and leadership skills.

• Proven ability to lead a technical team effectively.

• Experience in building or managing reliable financial, banking, payments, or other high-integrity systems.

• Comfort in navigating across product, policy, infrastructure, and operational domains.

• Capability to transform ambiguous challenges into clear decisions, designated owners, and actionable plans.

• Strong technical judgment with a deep engagement in system design and implementation.

• Experience in mentoring senior engineers and creating pathways for engineers to take on leadership roles.

• A strong commitment to correctness, reliability, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence.

• Familiarity with Haskell and TypeScript, or a willingness to learn these technologies.
