Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to up to 2 teams of software engineers, totaling around 12 engineers.

• Design and implement cloud-native solutions utilizing AWS services such as Lambda, EKS, DynamoDB, Step Functions, RDS, and SNS/SQS.

• Oversee the engineering processes of the team in alignment with company policies.

• Serve as scrum master, ensuring that ceremonies are conducted and managing team performance effectively.

• Estimate new features, manage delivery timelines, and communicate progress updates.

• Participate in interviews during the hiring process.

• Champion CI/CD, test automation, and observability initiatives.

• Collaborate with product managers to ensure alignment of priorities and solutions.

• Monitor and enforce standards established by Architects.

• Provide Level 3 support for services in collaboration with the Support team.

• Work alongside DevOps, DBAs, and Infrastructure teams to address incidents.

• Uphold company security standards.

• Advocate for engineering best practices and maintain high code quality standards.

• Track application KPIs and support initiatives aimed at continuous improvement.

• Encourage collaboration, accountability, and a culture of continuous learning.

• Lead and mentor software engineers in both technical and professional growth.

• Conduct performance evaluations.

• Supervise team performance and the delivery of high-quality solutions.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in the Software Engineering field, including 5 years in engineering management.

• Demonstrated experience in leading software engineering teams within cloud-based environments.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Practical expertise in AWS architecture, serverless services, EKS computing, and event-driven design.

• Familiarity with CI/CD systems, observability, and infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform).

• Proficiency in one or more backend programming languages (Java, Python, Node.js).

• Proficiency in SQL (MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (DocumentDB, DynamoDB).

• Strong understanding of Scrum, Agile development, and DevOps methodologies.

• Good grasp of DDD, BDD, TDD, and Design Patterns.

• In-depth understanding of cloud-native architectures and scalable system design.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Ability to advocate for engineering best practices and ensure high code quality.

• Cloud-agnostic mindset with a capacity to adapt to emerging technologies.
