This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the daily operations of the engineering team in a dedicated people-management capacity.
• Delegate tasks, assist engineers in overcoming obstacles, and monitor the progress of both in-house and partner engineers.
• Manage ticket assignments in Linear, ensure clear workflows, maintain a backlog of thoroughly defined tickets, and elevate larger project concerns to engineering leadership.
• Serve as the technical liaison for the product team by converting product objectives into technical strategies and approving them before implementation.
• Distribute workloads in accordance with individual capacities, working preferences, and time zones.
• Conduct one-on-one meetings, provide performance evaluations, and develop growth strategies.
• Coordinate delivery across various teams and shared initiatives, such as bug resolution.
• Collaborate with engineering leadership on recruitment, processes, and team organization.
• Advocate for specification-driven development and AI-enhanced engineering methodologies.
• Function as the second-in-command to the head of engineering.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in software engineering, including at least 3 years in a direct management role.
• A conscious decision to pursue the management track, leveraging people, processes, and clarity.
• Experience managing distributed teams, including offshore or partner/vendor engineers across different time zones.
• Sufficient technical knowledge to critically assess technical direction and approve scoping within a TypeScript/Python environment.
• Proficiency with modern delivery tools (Linear or similar) and Kanban-style workflows.
• A proven history of collaborating with product managers to transform requirements into clearly defined, actionable work.
• Understanding of AI-assisted development tools and their impact on team operations.
• Exceptional written communication skills—your tickets, feedback, and updates provide clarity.
• Residency within the United States is required.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship now or in the future.
• Background in prop tech or real estate is preferred.
• Experience managing a combination of in-house and agency/vendor teams.
• Previous experience as a tech lead prior to transitioning into management.
