Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers.

• Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.

• Support individual development through one-on-ones, feedback, and coaching.

• Participate in the processes of hiring, onboarding, and performance management.

• Take responsibility for the planning, prioritization, execution, and delivery of engineering tasks.

• Ensure that projects are completed on schedule with high quality and clear ownership.

• Identify potential risks and eliminate obstacles.

• Balance the aspects of speed, reliability, and technical debt.

• Provide technical direction on system design, architecture, and trade-offs.

• Ensure that backend systems are scalable, reliable, and high-performing.

• Advocate for code quality, testing, observability, and security best practices.

• Collaborate with Product, DevOps, ML, and other engineering teams.

• Translate business and product objectives into actionable engineering plans.

• Communicate effectively and proactively in a fully remote setting.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering.

• A minimum of 3 years in an engineering management or technical lead position.

• Strong backend expertise in PHP, Python, Go, Rust, or similar languages.

• Solid grasp of distributed systems.

• Demonstrated experience in leading teams and executing complex technical projects from start to finish.

• Comfortable discussing system design, APIs, performance, and scalability.

• Experience with CI/CD, testing, code reviews, and monitoring practices.

• Strong leadership abilities, including empathy, clarity, and maintaining high standards without overwhelming teams.

• Excellent communication skills.

• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

• Must have the right to work in the UK; no UK visa sponsorship is available.
