Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Lead, mentor, and guide a team of full-stack engineers through coaching, regular individual meetings, and performance evaluations.

• Promote continuous learning, teamwork, and technical excellence within the team.

• Assist in career advancement, engagement, and long-term skills development across the engineering group.

• Participate in the recruitment and interviewing process for engineering talent.

• Design, develop, and sustain scalable, high-quality software solutions.

• Collaborate with Product and Design teams to convert requirements into technical solutions.

• Engage in architectural decisions and influence the future of the Medify platform.

• Conduct code reviews and advocate for engineering best practices.

• Diagnose and remedy software issues while ensuring reliability and performance.

• Create automated tests and contribute to a strong testing culture.

• Take part in agile planning, backlog refinement, and sprint execution.

• Keep up-to-date with emerging technologies and enhance engineering practices.

• Dedicate at least 25% of the role to hands-on engineering tasks.

• Collaborate closely with the CTO, Product, and Design teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 2 years of experience in leading or managing software engineering teams.

• More than 5 years of experience in software development.

• Strong background in modern software engineering practices and frameworks.

• Experience with Ruby on Rails and React is highly preferred.

• Proven success in building scalable and maintainable software solutions.

• Experience working within Agile development environments.

• Experience collaborating with cross-functional Product and Design teams.

• Experience in recruiting, mentoring, and developing engineers.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Strong problem-solving capabilities with a focus on quality and continuous enhancement.

• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.

• Solid understanding of modern programming languages and software frameworks.

• Strong grasp of software architecture, design principles, data structures, and algorithms.

• Experience with relational databases, APIs, and networking.

• Knowledge of automated testing frameworks and software quality practices.

• Familiarity with DevOps tools and deployment pipelines.

• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies.
