This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Lead a dynamic and expanding engineering team.
• Take charge of the engineering strategy, technical execution, team wellbeing, and recruitment.
• Report directly to the Head of Engineering and collaborate with another Engineering Manager.
• Assume responsibility for a small engineering team, collaborating with product and other departments to determine development priorities and delivery.
• Manage the engineering direction, delivery, and overall health for a team of senior product engineers.
• Work alongside product teams to establish commitments and ensure successful delivery.
• Review pull requests, offer technical insights, pair on challenges, and contribute code as necessary.
• Resolve team issues when decisions are ambiguous or challenges emerge.
• Provide regular feedback to engineers, conduct 1:1 meetings and performance evaluations, and support their professional growth.
• Identify and address team obstacles, communicate issues promptly, and relay status across the organization.
• Manage recruitment efforts to help Junction expand.
• Make both technical and non-technical decisions and take ownership of their outcomes.
• Proven experience leading and managing skilled software engineers directly.
• Technical involvement while in a management role.
• Experience in overseeing a team's delivery, beyond mere people management.
• Capability to provide valuable technical feedback and make informed engineering trade-off decisions.
• Experience collaborating with product and other teams to convert customer challenges into delivered software.
• Background in developing engineers through constructive feedback, coaching, and meaningful growth opportunities.
• Experience in recruiting engineers and elevating a team's technical or operational standards.
• Preferred: experience in an early-stage or scaling company where managers both manage people and help build products.
• Must be located within GMT or EST time zones.
