This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +27 more states.
• Regularly contribute production code and integrate AI agents into daily operations.
• Take ownership of technical direction, architectural decisions, technical health, and the roadmap.
• Lead the phased modernization of legacy .NET/C# and Angular components while developing with Python, Node.js, and React.
• Break down work into well-defined tasks and delegate them to engineers, AI agents, or yourself.
• Oversee pull request reviews and provide meaningful feedback.
• Manage and address the technical-debt backlog.
• Recruit, assess, mentor, and nurture engineers.
• Develop agent instructions, verification protocols, and human-in-the-loop controls.
• Conduct pre-merge evaluation checks while maintaining human oversight over production merges.
• Ensure the maintenance of automated unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Propel CI/CD automation, containerized delivery, and Infrastructure as Code initiatives.
• Monitor engineering health and delivery metrics, including reporting via Atlassian Compass.
• Facilitate bi-weekly demonstrations of cloud environments.
• Collaborate with production support through tooling, automation, documentation, and runbooks.
• Minimize operational toil while implementing security guardrails, blast-radius limits, and audit trails.
• Track and remediate WIZ Critical and Major findings within the stipulated service levels.
• Maintain architecture documentation, ADRs, runbooks, and agent instructions.
• 5–7+ years of pertinent software engineering experience.
• Experience as a senior engineer or technical lead, with prior leadership of at least one engineering team.
• Hands-on full-stack development experience and a readiness to continue coding while managing engineers.
• Strong expertise in Python, Node.js, and React.
• Experience in maintaining and modernizing .NET/C# services and Angular front ends.
• Proven use of agentic or AI-assisted software development workflows in real-world delivery settings.
• Accountability for the entire development lifecycle: build, test, release, operate, troubleshoot, and iterate.
• Experience with cloud-native applications on Azure; familiarity with AWS or GCP is also relevant.
• Practical experience with containerized workloads and orchestration.
• Infrastructure as Code experience using Bicep, Terraform, Pulumi, or AWS CDK.
• Strong background in automated testing and CI/CD practices.
• Capability to make significant technical contributions and sound architectural decisions.
• A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required.
• Experience in financial services, accounting, finance, tax technology, finance transformation, tax software development, or implementation environments.
• Ability to own assigned tasks through to completion, encompassing requirements, configuration, testing, debugging, and system/process changes.
• Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.; visa sponsorship is not available.
• Must reside in one of the specified U.S. states or Washington, DC.
