Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Lead, recruit, and cultivate a high-performing, globally distributed engineering team while overseeing career development paths and performance evaluations.

• Maintain a regular schedule of one-on-one meetings and feedback sessions to foster engineer growth and identify issues proactively.

• Design and adapt the team structure in alignment with organizational growth.

• Collaborate with Product and fellow Engineering leaders to convert business priorities into actionable team plans.

• Define and advance the “Brilliant Basics” roadmap, focusing on reliability, observability, security, CI/CD, and scalable engineering methodologies.

• Manage incident response, on-call rotations, and Service Level Objectives (SLOs) to guarantee platform reliability for enterprise clients.

• Strike a balance between technical engagement and delegation, participating in architectural or code-level discussions as necessary.

• Report directly to the CTO.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering.

• At least 2 years of experience as an Engineering Manager, leading a team of more than 6 engineers.

• Proven history of hiring, mentoring, and retaining engineers, including promoting individual contributors to senior or lead positions.

• Experience collaborating with Product teams and cross-functional stakeholders to align business objectives with team strategies and priorities.

• Demonstrated success in building and scaling backend systems (Java) within a B2B SaaS environment.

• Familiarity with establishing or enhancing engineering practices (SDLC, code reviews, testing, incident response) in early or growth-stage companies.

• Proficiency in Git, CI/CD platforms (GitHub Actions), cloud services (AWS/Azure), and monitoring/observability tools.

• Experience with MS Office/Excel, Google Suite, and Notion.

• Fluent in Portuguese.

• Fluent in English.

• Willingness to travel as required to support events and connect with the team.

• Previous experience in an early-stage, high-growth, fast-paced startup environment.

• Preferred: MBA or postgraduate studies in technology management or leadership.

• Preferred: Experience in designing organizational structures (pods/squads) for scaling engineering teams.

• Preferred: Background in AI/LLM-based products, agent orchestration, or automation/RPA platforms.

• Preferred: Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools.
