Engineering Manager – Analytics

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland, +5 more countries.

📋 Description

• Lead a team of engineers, taking ownership of delivery and development.

• Foster continuous improvement in team processes, delivery, technical quality, and individual growth.

• Support the professional well-being and career advancement of team members through one-on-one meetings, growth plans, performance reviews, and constructive feedback.

• Cultivate future technical and engineering leaders.

• Write, review code, and contribute to key technical decisions.

• Drive architectural and technical design choices in collaboration with senior individual contributors.

• Maintain engineering standards through pull-request reviews and a robust release process.

• Lead an AI-augmented engineering team, utilizing AI tools judiciously.

• Manage team commitments, planning, prioritization, roadmap, sequencing, and delivery quality.

• Collaborate with the Technical Product Owner and Product team regarding scope, trade-offs, and roadmap direction.

• Ensure engineering efforts align with broader business objectives.

• Reassess, re-prioritize, and re-staff as business needs evolve.

• Oversee hiring, interviewing, recruiting, coaching, and performance evaluations for the team.

• Mentor fellow engineering managers and enhance the management team's capabilities.

• Communicate relevant context and escalations to leadership.

• Empower senior engineers and provide coaching to team members.

• Collaborate with Product, Design, GTM, Customer Success, and other teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of engineering experience.

• At least 4 years in engineering management roles with active coding responsibilities.

• Hands-on experience in building cloud-based SaaS products.

• Production experience managing services on AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Proven experience managing availability, cost, and customer-facing product surfaces.

• API-first product development approach.

• Strong expertise in databases, SQL, query optimization, and BigQuery.

• Demonstrated history of significantly transforming an engineering team.

• Deep technical proficiency in the team’s primary stack, including senior-level code reading, writing, and reviewing skills.

• A clear philosophy regarding hiring, coaching, performance management, and technical decision-making.

• Excellent judgment in high-pressure situations and accountability for results.

• Direct and candid communication abilities.
