Engineering Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead various cross-functional development teams across both modern and legacy platforms.

• Adjust team size and composition in response to work flowing through formal intake processes.

• Commit to scope, effort levels, timelines, and team sizes in actionable plans.

• Fulfill commitments and proactively communicate risks along with recovery strategies.

• Integrate engineering quality into team workflows through the definition of done, automated testing, code reviews, and metrics.

• Ensure comprehensive positive and negative automated test coverage for each feature.

• Maintain a monthly production release cycle of 30 days or less.

• Oversee modern Salesforce-centered, configuration-first platform development while sustaining legacy systems.

• Take responsibility for the warranty of released software.

• Set and uphold standards for code quality, reviews, documentation, and the definition of done.

• Keep documentation up-to-date with every release.

• Scale responsible AI-assisted engineering practices throughout the organization.

• Utilize AI in automated test coverage, code reviews, defect analysis, and documentation, while adhering to federal security, data, privacy, and authorization regulations.

• Recruit, develop, retain, and manage engineering talent effectively.

• Collaborate directly with federal customers and decision-makers.

• Report on delivery status, defend engineering choices with data, and challenge poor technical or program directions respectfully.

• Mentor engineering leads while upholding quality standards under tight schedules.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience leading engineering organizations with multiple teams in the development and delivery of production software.

• Ability to articulate delivery and quality outcomes with quantitative data.

• Hands-on technical credibility; actively reads code, reviews designs, and provides technical insights.

• Established a quality system that achieved significantly low defect escape rates through engineering discipline and test automation.

• Experience shipping software in a regulated federal environment.

• Skilled in treating security, accessibility, authorization, and documentation requirements as constraints to delivery.

• Proficient in release cadence, defect detection and escape rates, cycle times, and automation coverage metrics.

• Utilizes AI engineering tools and has led teams in responsible, measured AI-assisted development.

• Capable of presenting delivery status, defending engineering decisions with data, conveying bad news promptly, and respectfully challenging unrealistic directives.

• Strong judgment in hiring, engineering development, retention, and performance management.

• Must be based in the U.S.

• Eligible to obtain and maintain a federal Public Trust clearance.

• Requirement for full-time W-2 employment.

• Experience in Salesforce delivery leadership or similar configuration-first enterprise platform leadership is advantageous, but not mandatory.

• A solid background in test automation frameworks and strategies is beneficial, though not required.

• Familiarity with managing legacy sustainment and modernization concurrently, or decommissioning a production system is helpful, but not essential.

• Knowledge of 508 accessibility compliance is advantageous, though not required.
