Engineering Lead, Applied AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Directly report to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

• Lead the development of an AI-driven product suite aimed at enhancing clinician efficiency and facilitating more personalized patient care

• Create growth experiences for both patients and providers

• Take ownership of the AI codebase as the senior engineer within an expanding team

• Collaborate with offshore engineers in the development process

• Expand the engineering team over time

• Provide mentorship to in-house engineers

• Establish engineering standards for code deployment

• Influence the architecture, product strategies, and technical direction

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in software engineering

• Experience in applying AI from prototype stages to production, delivering solutions to real users

• Extensive knowledge of LLM APIs, RAG, agentic systems, and evaluation harnesses

• Proficiency in backend API development and frontend interface design

• Practical experience with Node.js/NestJS and current React/TypeScript frameworks

• Familiarity with AWS infrastructure and the integration of AI tools

• Proven technical leadership skills with a capacity for making sound architectural decisions

• Ability to collaborate effectively across product, engineering, and clinical teams

• Strong instincts regarding product development

• A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline

• Preference for candidates with founding or early-stage startup engineering experience

• Preference for candidates with a background in healthcare or regulated environments

• A well-considered perspective on the appropriate use of AI is preferred

• Ability to act swiftly without compromising quality is preferred
