This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the application engineering strategy and its implementation across backend, mobile, and desktop platforms.

• Develop dependable systems for AI-driven workflows, focusing on state management, orchestration, tool utilization, retries, fallbacks, and handling failures.

• Create APIs and abstractions that link AI systems to tangible product experiences.

• Guide a small, senior engineering team through design evaluations, code assessments, and hands-on mentorship.

• Evaluate trade-offs in latency, reliability, cost, security, and user experience.

• Set up production foundations that include observability, monitoring, testing, and operational excellence.

• Collaborate with Machine Learning leadership to transform model capabilities into solid, shippable product experiences.

• Act swiftly while ensuring architecture remains simple, maintainable, and scalable.

• Deliver observable, monitored, and stable production systems.

• Enhance latency and reliability in measurable ways over time.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI) is essential.

• Extensive experience in leading application or product engineering for sophisticated systems.

• Strong practical background in building and deploying backend systems utilized in production environments.

• Familiarity with creating AI-powered products or systems that integrate with contemporary Machine Learning (ML)/Large Language Model (LLM) capabilities.

• Possess strong technical judgment and the ability to make decisions despite incomplete information.

• Comfortable working across backend and client platforms, with substantial expertise in at least one area.

• A strong inclination toward ownership, delivery, and learning from real-world usage.

• Maintain high standards for code quality, reliability, and engineering principles.

• Must be prepared to complete a 60-minute coding assessment.
