Engineer I – AI Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, and launch production-ready AI applications and services.

• Create applications powered by large language models (LLM), intelligent agents, and agentic workflows.

• Construct and enhance retrieval-augmented generation systems.

• Integrate AI applications with APIs, databases, enterprise systems, tools, and knowledge repositories.

• Develop reusable AI services, APIs, components, and frameworks.

• Implement tool invocation and multi-step workflows for intricate tasks.

• Enhance semantic search, embeddings, retrieval, reranking, and contextual grounding.

• Utilize prompt engineering and context engineering techniques.

• Establish evaluation methods for accuracy, relevance, groundedness, reliability, latency, and user experience.

• Identify and address hallucinations, retrieval failures, and other failure modes in AI systems.

• Prototype and assess emerging AI technologies for enterprise applications.

• Contribute to AI observability, monitoring, testing, security, governance, and responsible AI practices.

• Engage in architecture discussions, code reviews, technical design sessions, and agile development activities.

• Collaborate with product teams, business stakeholders, engineers, and subject matter experts to convert business challenges into scalable AI solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.

• Proficiency in programming with Python.

• Comprehension of software engineering principles, including data structures, APIs, testing, object-oriented programming, and version control.

• Basic understanding of machine learning, artificial intelligence, and generative AI concepts.

• Experience with Git or similar version control systems.

• U.S. citizenship is mandatory.

• Must live and work from one of the 50 U.S. states, excluding U.S. territories.

• Preferred: Previous internship, co-op, or work experience with RTX.

• Preferred: Experience in building applications utilizing large language models.

• Preferred: Familiarity with Azure OpenAI, OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar technologies.

• Preferred: Experience with retrieval-augmented generation architectures.

• Preferred: Background in embeddings, vector databases, semantic search, hybrid search, or information retrieval.

• Preferred: Experience with AI agents, tool/function calling, multi-agent systems, or agentic workflows.

• Preferred: Familiarity with LangGraph, LangChain, Semantic Kernel, LlamaIndex, or similar technologies.

• Preferred: Experience in developing REST APIs or backend services using FastAPI, Flask, Django, or similar frameworks.

• Preferred: Knowledge of SQL, NoSQL, graph databases, and vector databases.

• Preferred: Experience in cloud development, particularly within Microsoft Azure.

• Preferred: Knowledge of Docker, containers, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.

• Preferred: Familiarity with microservices and distributed application architectures.

• Preferred: Understanding of knowledge graphs, ontologies, graph-based retrieval, or enterprise knowledge systems.

• Preferred: Experience with AI evaluation frameworks, observability, guardrails, and responsible AI.

• Preferred: Front-end or full-stack application development experience.

• Preferred: Experience in building AI solutions through professional work, internships, academic projects, hackathons, research, or open-source contributions.
